Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my microwave and pyrex measuring cups for all of my recipes?? Well, I LOVE them! They make making these things so so so easy!
For this recipe I tried to copy Burt's Bees Lip Balm and followed something like this:
Kara's Bees
Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons of beeswax (love the pellets!)
2 Tablespoons of unrefined and organic coconut oil--Costco now carries
1/4 cup almond oil
1 teaspoon honey (or if your lucky to have beeswax with honey in it, use that...thanks Aunt Shawna!)
12 drops peppermint essential oil
2 drops rosemary essential oil
*optional: a few drops of peppermint candy flavoring
Containers: can buy Amazon or recycle old small containers like altoids
Put the first 4 ingredients in your pyrex and melt for about 3 minutes. CAUTION: WILL BE HOT!
Take it out carefully and mix a little, if there are small pieces of beeswax left over they will melt as you stir.
Lay out your containers, take off the lids!
Once this is done, stir in your essential oils and pour into molds. This is hot so make sure you pour into molds and put the lids on so your oils don't evaporate.
You can put these in the fridge if your in a hurry for them to set up but they take a couple hours. Then your ready to label and use :)
I modified this recipe:
I used honey instead of vitamin E and omitted lanolin cause I didn't like the smell.
